How To Make A Hanging Jewelry Holder With A Wooden Silverware Tray

Blog

If you are looking for a fun, easy, and affordable project to make with wooden silverware trays, you may want to consider making hanging jewelry holders. These holders not only serve the function of keeping your jewelry organized, but they are also nice pieces of art to display on the walls of your home. The best part is that these are easy to make and require very few supplies. Here are the steps you will need to complete to make a hanging jewelry holder with a wooden silverware tray.

Step 1: Gather the right supplies

A jewelry wall holder will hang from the wall like a picture. Therefore, the silverware tray will not lie flat. Instead it will look like a framed picture you would place on your wall. If you would like to make one of these, you will need one wooden silverware holder and the following craft supplies:

  • Spray paint in any color that you would like the box to be
  • Scrapbook paper
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Fancy hooks
  • Picture hanger for the back of the box (and any tools necessary to attach this piece)

Step 2: Prepare the box

Once you have gathered all of the supplies you would like to use, you can begin creating a beautiful hanging jewelry holder. The first step in this is to spray paint the entire tray. You may need to add two coats of paint to the box before you can move on to the next steps. In addition, you will have to let the paint dry completely before you move on.

After the tray is dry, you can decorate the individual sections of the tray. Each section in the tray can be used as a separate compartment for storing jewelry, and you can decorate each section with a different color of scrapbook paper if you would like. You could also use the same color or design of paper if you would like. The goal here is to cut out pieces of scrapbook paper to fit on the bottoms of each section. Once you do this, glue the pieces in place.

The next step is to attach a fancy hook inside each section. As you do this, stand the tray up in the same way it would be when you hang it on the wall. Attach each hook near the top of each section so that you can hang a necklace or bracelet in each area.

Step 3: Put on the final touches

After decorating the entire craft, you will be ready for the last step, which will involve attaching the picture hanger on the back of the box. This is a small device that you will have to nail on the back of the jewelry holder near the top of it. Once you place this on your hanging jewelry holder, you can put a nail in your wall and place the holder on the nail.

But I recently picked up a new hobby...candle making! I love using essential oils and natural ingredients to make delicious smelling candles that we use year-round. I have a ton of different scents for different seasons. My blog shares ideas from all my friends about different crafting topics. Read on!
